Privacy policy
The short version. Kinetic stores your training so it can sync between your devices and survive a lost phone. There are no ads, no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or attribution SDKs, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. The app records first-party usage events about how it is performing — counts and outcomes, never what you lifted or typed — and you can switch those off in Settings. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with a data broker. You can delete all of it from inside the app in two taps.
This website keeps an anonymous count of visits, described in full below. It sets no cookies, stores no IP address, and cannot connect a visit to your Kinetic account or to any other site you use.
This policy covers two separate things, and it is worth keeping them apart: the Kinetic iPhone app, and this website, kineticworkoutapp.com. They collect different things for different reasons.
Part one — the iPhone app
Your account
Kinetic uses Sign in with Apple. We receive a user identifier and, unless you choose Apple's Hide My Email, an email address. Both are stored so your data can be tied to your account and synced across devices. We don't ask for your name, phone number, or address, and we never email you marketing.
Training data
- Exercises, sets, reps, and weights you log
- Workout timestamps and durations
- Body weight entries
- Goals and your training plan
- Meals you log, and their protein, carbohydrate, and fat amounts
- Video clips of sets you choose to film, attached to the set they belong to
Coaching
If you link a coach by entering their code, that coach can see your sessions, sets, and filmed clips, and can leave form checks on them. This only happens because you entered the code, it is the entire purpose of the feature, and either side can end the link at any time — which stops the coach's access immediately. No coach can add themselves to your account.
Subscription status
If you subscribe to Kinetic Pro, we store which plan you hold and when it renews. Apple is the merchant — we never see your card, billing address, or any payment detail.
Usage data
Kinetic records how the app itself is performing: which screens you reach, which steps succeed or fail, how long setup takes, whether a workout synced, and which lock sent you to the paywall. Each event carries your account identifier, your app and iOS version, and your device model — so we can tell an iPhone-specific bug from a general one.
These are counts and outcomes, never content. A "workout completed" event carries how many exercises and sets it held; it does not carry which exercises, what you lifted, or anything you typed. Exercise names you created, meal descriptions, notes, weights, and reps are never sent as usage data.
We built this ourselves rather than adding a third-party SDK: the events are rows in the same database as the rest of your data, under the same row-level security, and they are not shared with, sold to, or processed by anybody else. You can turn it off in Settings → Privacy → Share Usage Data, which also discards anything still queued on your device.
Referral codes
If you enter a creator's code, we store which creator referred you, once, so they can be paid. There is no click tracking, no cookie, and no fingerprinting behind that: attribution happens at the moment you type the code and never again.
What the app doesn't collect
- No location data
- No data from Apple Health
- No third-party analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting SDKs — the usage data described above is first-party, stays in our own database, and can be switched off
- No advertising identifiers, and no tracking across apps or websites
- No contacts, photos, or files
Camera
Kinetic uses the camera for two things you initiate: filming a set, and scanning a nutrition label. Clips you film are stored with your account, exactly like the sets they belong to, and are deleted with it. The label scanner reads the label on-device.
Where Kinetic performs body-pose detection, it does so entirely on your iPhone using Apple's Vision framework. No video, still image, or pose data from that is transmitted, stored, or shared — it never leaves the device. Camera access is optional and the camera is only active while you have it open.
Part two — this website
kineticworkoutapp.com records a row for each page request so we can see how many people visit, which pages they arrive on, where they came from, and whether AI assistants and search engines are reading the site. It is written by our own server, into our own database. No third party is involved and there is no analytics product behind it.
What is recorded
- The page requested, and the time
- The website that linked you here (the domain only, never the full address), and any campaign tags on the link
- An approximate location — continent, country, region, city and time zone — see below
- Whether you're on a phone, tablet, or computer; the operating system and browser family; and your primary language
- For automated visitors, the name of the crawler
What is not recorded
- No cookies. Nothing is stored on your device and nothing is read from it, by us or by anyone else. That is why this site has no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
- No IP address. Your IP is used at the moment of the request and then discarded. What is kept is a one-way hash of it combined with a secret that changes every midnight, which lets us count how many separate people visited on a given day and nothing else. The same person tomorrow is an unconnected record.
- No full browser fingerprint. The user-agent string is reduced to a device class, an OS name, and a browser name, and the original is discarded.
- No link to your Kinetic account, and no way to build one.
- No third-party scripts, tag managers, advertising pixels, or session recording. This site loads no JavaScript for analytics at all.
About that location. It is not your location. It is the city that a commercial IP-geolocation database associates with your network, resolved before the request reaches us. For a mobile connection or a VPN that is routinely the wrong city, sometimes the wrong country. The coordinates we store are the centre of that city rounded to two decimal places — roughly a kilometre — not a position, and there is no way to make them more precise than that.
We keep it because knowing that people are arriving from Manchester and São Paulo tells us which time zones to answer support in and which markets are finding us. It cannot tell us who you are or where you were.
How long it is kept
Individual visit records are kept for up to 400 days, so year-on-year comparisons work, and are then deleted. The aggregate counts derived from them — visits per day, per country, per page — are not personal data and are kept.
Where it's stored
Training data and website visit records live in a Supabase database hosted on AWS, transmitted over HTTPS. Every training row is scoped to your account by row-level security, so one account cannot read another's data. Website visit records are not readable by any app account at all. Deleting your data
Open Settings → Delete Account in the app. This permanently deletes your account and everything attached to it — workouts, sets, body weight, goals, meals, and filmed clips. It happens immediately and cannot be undone. You do not need to contact us, and we do not keep a copy.
Deleting your Kinetic account does not cancel an active subscription, because Apple handles billing. Cancel that in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Website visit records contain nothing that identifies you, so there is no record of yours for us to find and remove — which is the point of collecting them that way. If you would like a copy of the training data on your account, email us and ask.
Your rights
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability over personal data we hold. Deletion is built into the app and needs no request. For access or a copy of your data, email us and we'll send it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
Children
Kinetic is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be surfaced in the app rather than only posted here.
